To mark the launch of Lusail Boulevard in Qatar, SKYMAGIC collaborated with FiveCurrents to create a large-scale drone artwork performed across three evenings as part of the Darb Lusail Festival.

ON THE SLY was brought in as music director and soundtrack producer, supporting a narrative that traced Lusail’s evolution from natural landscape to modern city.

The visual journey began with organic forms, moving through the elemental themes of Earth, Water, Fire and Wind. As the story progressed towards construction and development, the drone formations shifted into more geometric and architectural shapes, ultimately forming the Boulevard itself.

Our role was to build a musical progression that mirrored that transformation. The score moved from atmospheric textures into more defined rhythmic structures, marking the transition from nature to urban form and reinforcing each visual shift in the sky.

With 400 drones in flight and thousands of spectators watching from below, the music needed to clearly articulate each phase of the story. Working closely with SKYMAGIC and the wider creative team, we ensured the soundtrack supported the precision of the choreography while maintaining a strong narrative thread for a live audience.

The result was a live performance that combined technology, storytelling and music to introduce Lusail Boulevard as a new public landmark.
