BBC SOUNDS — FESTIVAL AUDIO INSTALLATIONS

The BBC created a series of immersive audio-visual listening pods for festival environments, designed to showcase the breadth of content available across BBC Sounds through focused listening experiences.

Each installation explored a different theme — including sport, pop, lifestyle, relaxation, nature, rock and R&B/hip-hop — allowing visitors to step inside distinct audio worlds built around specific genres and subject areas.

ON THE SLY was tasked with curating material from the BBC’s extensive audio archive and developing a series of layered soundscapes built from historic moments, voices and textures drawn from across the organisation’s output. These elements were shaped into self-contained listening environments designed to work in close alignment with the surrounding visuals and installation design.

The result was a collection of intimate listening spaces within a busy festival setting, using sound design and archive curation to transform BBC Sounds content into a shared, immersive experience.

This project forms part of ON THE SLY’s wider work creating immersive and spatial audio experiences for installations, broadcast storytelling and large-scale experiential environments.
