BBC Music brings together the broadcaster’s music activity across television, radio, digital platforms and live events, connecting audiences with performances, festivals and cultural moments throughout the year.
ON THE SLY was commissioned to create the sonic logo for BBC Music, a short musical identity designed to introduce and connect the brand across a wide range of programming and content.
The challenge was to create a recognisable musical signature that could sit comfortably across very different musical worlds, from major cultural moments such as Glastonbury and the BBC Proms to new artist performances, television broadcasts and digital output.
Our approach focused on creating a simple musical idea that felt confident, contemporary and distinctly “BBC”. The logo needed to work as a quick identifier across trailers, idents and video content, while remaining flexible enough to support different genres and editorial contexts.
The result is a concise sonic identity that signals BBC Music clearly and consistently across the broadcaster’s output, reinforcing the connection between artists, performances and audiences.
This project forms part of ON THE SLY’s wider work in sonic identity, broadcast branding and music direction for global media and live experiences
