Identity and The Human Experience Network took over Frameless, London’s immersive art venue, to host a private experience-led event for their team, clients and prospective partners.
The event was built as a live demonstration, using the venue itself to show how storytelling, place and sensory design shape emotional response when audio, digital artwork and spatial environments work together.
ON THE SLY was commissioned to create a bespoke immersive audio soundscape for the experience, helping set the emotional tone and narrative flow across a series of imagined worlds.
Our role was to design and produce a spatial audio experience that anchored each scene emotionally and helped guide the audience through the story of the event.
Sound was treated as a narrative layer rather than background texture, shifting atmosphere, scale and intimacy as the visuals and live discussion evolved. Working with Frameless’ immersive environment, we created a series of location-based soundscapes that showed how audio can define place and influence how an audience feels within it.
Across the evening, the audience moved through contrasting environments – from a remote sandy beach and a sunlit cornfield, to an abstract, future-facing journey into space. Each transition used sound to establish mood and emotional context, supporting the themes being explored on stage.
Creating intimacy at scale
The central moment of the event was a fireside-style panel discussion focused on immersive storytelling and the future of experience design.
For this section, Frameless was transformed into an alpine ski lodge. Subtle interior ambience, the crackle of a fire and a sense of landscape beyond the walls created an intimate, grounded setting, while the northern lights shimmered outside the space.
The audio design helped frame the discussion, demonstrating how immersive environments can feel human and conversational, even within a large-scale, high-impact venue.
Collaboration and contribution
ON THE SLY Director David Wakefield was one of the invited speakers, contributing to the discussion from a narrative audio perspective. His involvement reflected the collaborative nature of the project – combining live conversation with immersive design to explore how sound, story and emotion intersect.
Insights from the event were later captured in Identity’s white paper, Shaping the Future of Immersive Experiences, positioning the evening as both a live experience and a shared learning moment for brands and experience-makers.
For ON THE SLY, this was immersive audio at a more intimate scale – focused on clarity, emotional connection and how sound can give meaning to space.
It stands as a strong example of how immersive and spatial audio can support storytelling, guide emotional response and shape experience-led environments.
